Top 5 Tips For Buying Wholesale Baby Clothing Online
So you’ve had a baby or you’re looking to buy gifts of wholesale baby clothing online and you’re wondering what things you should be on the look out for?
It may seem a little daunting for many people and even though the Internet is becoming a common place to buy product online, there are still several key elements you need to be aware of, especially when you’re parting with your hard earned cash online. Not only can this be applied to buying wholesale baby clothing it’s also a general guide for buying any products online..
Over the years I have made many mistakes (which I have fortunately learned from) when purchasing products online. I have actually lost more money than I like to admit to myself. As a result, I’ve become more savvy with my Internet purchases and have put together a list of the main areas I consider important when making a purchase online.
My top 5 tips in buying baby clothing online:
Credibility – Does the site look the part? Is it easy to navigate or does it look like a dodgy backyard business? Does it have an easy to find phone number? It’s important that the place where you’re giving your money looks like a real, credible, legitimate business as it will mean the difference to your receiving the package you’ve ordered and potentially something totally different, or no product at all. Even if they’re offering incredible deals, resist the urge if they don’t look the credible.
Security – Does the site have any type of security, especially a security certificate. This is actually pretty easy to see. If you look in the bottom right hand corner of the screen you can see the little pad lock, as you are completing your transaction. This padlock means the site is secure and reduces the possibility of someone stealing your credit card details during the transaction. Another tell tale sign of a secure site is in the web address. Normally web addresses start with http://, secure sites start with https://
Returns Policy – Does the site offer any type of returns policy. After all, if you order your baby item online only to find the sizing it totally out or they deliver something totally different to what you expected? A good returns policy will mean you can return it within a reasonable time frame.
Sizing – Do they clearly display universal sizing? When you’re buying baby clothing online, there can be different sizing chart dependant on the region/country you are buying from. It’s very important to ensure the site your buying from can show you the equivalent sizing for your country. This should either display this for every item, or have a chart you can refer to for conversion purposes. As I have said many times before; If in doubt, buy the next size up.
Specials – What sort of specials do they offer? In many cases you can score hip baby clothes at wholesale prices. This for me is one of my favourite ways of buying clothing cheap. To stay in touch and hear about each new special, subscribe to the sites newsletters I actually subscribe to a lot of newsletters, especially if they send you weekly specials. I’ve actually bought a lot of clothing this way and have saved a lot of cash.
Pumpkin Patch is an example of a site that ticks all the boxes. It is laid out nicely, they update you frequently with really good specials and the clothing is really good quality. When they send you the specials newsletters you need to act fast as their product sells out quick. Another good sign as many others buy from them. They also of course have a good returns policy and sizing charts (although you have to look for them).
As I mentioned at the beginning, these are my top tips for buying wholesale baby clothing online. I’m sure there a a lot more, but these are the top 5 that have helped me buy the right baby clothing for my darling daughter. I hope these tips can be of use to you and can offer a little guidance on your wholesale baby clothing journey.
Dressing My Daughter after Bathtime

In this post I show you why I am such a big fan of cotton onesies, especially for bed time.
You also get to see how well Tilly behaves in front of the camera and the special little butterfly that keeps her attention.
Dressing Your Baby For Sleep Time Success
There’s a massive range of options available in wholesale baby clothing, but there are always a few important to considerations to keep in mind, especially when it comes to bed time. If you’re fortunate enough like me your baby girl sleeping through the entire night (breastfed and at 12 weeks) you want to ensure they are getting the best sleep possible and helping you to sleep as well.
With this in mind I have put together my top list to dress your baby for sleep time success.
Keep it Simple
When looking at ordering online or buying in a shop remember to keep it simple. This means no bows, strings, flowers, frills or any other object that may get caught or in the way of their sleeping patterns and safe sleeping. In more recent years these little extras have been linked to SIDS and are also a chocking hazard at sleep time.
There’s a massive range of clothing online that is affordable, and enables you to buy in lots that are nice and simple (one for each night of the week).
Hoods and Bonnets
Another important consideration is in hoods and bonnets. It is not recommended to place a bonnet or hood on your baby when they sleep as the head usually regulates the temperature of the body. Hoods and other head accessories can also be a chocking hazard and may also be attributed to SIDS.
Overdressing
When we had Tilly one of the points the midwives made was that parents have a tendency to overdress their little loved ones till they start to understand how warm to dress them. At first I thought I should wrap them into something similar to a cocoon, till one day when I picked up my screaming daughter and found enough sweat to break a drought. A simple rule of thumb is to dress your bub in one layer more than what you’re comfortably wearing.
Be mindful that this may still not be an exact science. Tilly’s circulation is similar to mine (I have great circulation) and as a result she was still being overdressed for bed time.
Fabrics
A good tip I came across in the beginning was linked to the material you use when dressing bub. I usually like to use cottons as they breathe really well and help to circulate the air around your baby girl. This is a really good idea in summer, especially if you have your bub in really hot, humid temperatures (like Australia).
I also had a nasty experience in the beginning with synthetics and have since gone away from them, especially for bed time.
Accessibility
Your clothing should allow easy access to the nappy at night for the late night changes to prevent your little girl from waking, crying and finding it hard to go back to sleep. This will make late night changes bearable and make you happier parents.
Layers
Finally, always dress in layers. This means to put them in a basic outfit like a one piece (with short sleeves for summer) and use other clothing like pants, socks, gloves, singlets and other layers to keep them warm. If they are young and your still swaddling you can use sheets to create additional layers. As they get older and start to move around in their bed you can use clothing layers to keep them warmer, etc.
Another benefit of layers is you can wake up at night and add the layers or take them off as the temperature changes. These layers should be easy to put on or take off at any time throughout the night, with minimal fuss to your baby girl.
When your baby is dressed snug for her conditions, she will fall asleep easier and stay asleep longer. This will mean mom and dad will have a chance to get some rest for themselves, especially with rest being a godsend at the beginning.
Making bath time easier with the right baby clothing
Ahhh, the life of a parent. Before you have a baby you imagine it to be a forgiving life of fun and rewards, but in reality after you’ve had a baby it’s like a 18 year life sentence. Hang on, I only jest, as truthfully it’s one of the greatest times of your life. Today I want to share a little secret that can actually enhance those times through simple tips such as the type of Wholesale Baby Clothing you choose to dress your darling child in.
One of my daily tasks is nightly bath duty. A truly fulfilling and wonderful experience, where I get my very special time with my darling daughter. We both love the time and it’s one of those occasions she is happy, and I get extra smiles. Once she is out of the bath there’s this transition that occurs that can only be explained like some sort of bi-polar disorder. It’s the transition between being in the bath getting her out and dressed. This can go from being one of the greatest experiences of your entire day, and head south quickly, with both your and your bub crying uncontrollably (OK, maybe you more than her).
Why is this be such a tough time for bub? I’ve thought long and hard about this, especially since I am the bath time delegate in our household. One of the main thoughts that come to mind is that bath time for her is like a semi reenactment of being back in the womb, with the serenity and weightlessness linked to floating around in the bath.
So when she is yanked from that serenity and chucked (of course not chucked) onto a change table, reality kicks back in. She actually feels her own weight again and it’s like she has been thrust from the womb out into the real world almost instantly. I’m sure it’s not as bad as this and I’m over exaggerating, but I think your get the idea.
Now as the man that has now dressed my baby girl approx 114 times give or take (114 down, only 2000 left), I think I’m semi qualified in understanding what is good and what is not when it comes to types of clothing you dress your baby in and believe this is where a little bit of common sense and knowledge come into play.
When I’m dressing my baby girl each night I want things to go smoothly and with the least amount of grief possible. After all, it’s really important you choose the right type of outfit to get them ready for their nightly sleep time. With this in mind I have prepared my top 5 tips in choosing the best after bath baby clothing to make your night a dream instead of a nightmare.
Layers - According to our midwife, the average temperature of the room should be somewhere between 60 – 68 degrees Fahrenheit (16 – 20 degrees Celsius) and you should only dress your baby one more layer than you are wearing. Apparently for first time parents it’s pretty common to overdress your baby. With this in mind (and to save tears) try to avoid over dressing. As it gets colder you can compensate by using extra layers like blankets or wraps.
Accessibility - Are there enough buttons for make it nice and easy to put on, are the holes for the arms and legs large enough, what side of the outfit does it button up, does it have to be pulled over the head tightly and most importantly, does it allow for a simple midnight nappy change. There’s nothing worse than having to totally undress bub to change a nappy in the middle of the night.
Stretchyness - Does your baby have to be a circus clown with the ability to contort in order for you to dress them. The outfit should have the flexibility to stretch instead of you having stretch your bub to the outfit.
Complexity - Is the outfit a engineers dream and will you require a degree to put it on her. Remember when you’re attempting to put it on they’re uncomfortable and just want it to be over. Your bubs outfit should just make sense and be easy to put on.
Composition - What is your outfit made of and will your bub be comfortable in it. I know for example my darling daughter sweats terribly when we place her in synthetics.
So, simple as that! Like I said earlier, this is a special time of the day and one you want to take advantage of. Trust me, these days are fleeting and before you know it they’ll be asking if they can borrow the car. Act fast! Ok, not really fast, but ensure you consider the type of baby clothing for bed time each night. If you do, you’ll remember nightly bath time as one of the happiest memories you had with your darling child.
Baby Clothing Sizing – Does One Size Really Fit All …
My first experience buying Wholesale Baby Clothing online was pretty confusing, especially when buying clothing from other countries and trying to understand their sizing. When I stumbled upon this sizing issue I thought it was pretty important to share as it can be confusing if you’re buying for your first child or giving baby clothing as a gift.
Fact Number 1 … One size doesn’t fit all. Ok, this is pretty obvious, but what you may not be aware of is there are different sizing methods dependant on what part of the world you live in, or in my case, what part of the world you’re buying Baby Clothing from.
Children’s sizing is separated by region/ country and is the standard measurement for that region. This is similar to shoe sizing, women’s clothing or different methods of sign language dependant on what part of the world you live in (yes there are different types of sign languages around the world and yes, this is your useless fact for the day).
Baby Clothing Sizes never used to be an issue
This was rarely an issue prior to the Internet as most people were none the wiser and simply purchased based on their countries own standard, but with this transition comes a whole new level of depth to the existing confusion of buying baby clothing for your little loved one.
One of the easiest ways to overcome the confusion is through the use of a Baby and Toddler Sizing Charts that clearly layout the important information based on:
- Age
- Height
- Weight
- Country
- Sizing Method
I remember when my beautiful baby girl came in on the scene were given a number of different outfits including a range of onesies and 2 piece outfits that had all these different numbers on them.
At that stage we had no idea what the measuring system was and we had to take each one and place them against her to understand what would fit. This actually went on for a while and we had tears from me and my bub, till I stumbled upon a baby sizing chart.
Many tears and a little knowledge later
After the tears I came to understand using a sizing chart in advance is a great tip when considering buying wholesale baby clothing for your own darling daughter or to give as gifts.
So, how do the different sizing standards stack-up?
Here’s my take on the different measurements based on country -
Euro Sizing – In my opinion Europe uses one of the best standards, with their standard measuring close to the actual length of your baby (from the top of the head to the heal). Presuming you know the actual height of your child this can be fairly easy to use as a guide, although challenging if your buying clothes as a gift.
Australian Sizing – This would be my second pick of the bunch and would have been my favorite if it wasn’t for the sizing prior to 12 months (with sizing 0000, 000, 00 and 0 can be a bit confusing). From 12 months onwards the sizing of your child matches the age (if your daughter were 2, you would buy size 2 clothing and so on). This of course doesn’t always match, but as a general guide is a lot easier if you’re looking at buying clothing as a gift.
UK and USA sizing – These are fairly similar till your child reaches 24 months at which time they change over to a strange measurement slightly out of alignment with your child’s age and with the introduction of additional letters. If you don’t have kids and you’re buying as a gift or this is your first time you may find your self a little confused.
When looking at any sizing charts always use a combination or height, weight and age to determine the best size and if in doubt buy the next size up, especially when your darling daughter is fairly young. If you buy a little larger they’ll grow into their little outfit. In the first 6 months there’s nothing worse than getting a gift only to discover it’s too small or will only get one wearing, especially if they are going through a growth spurt.
Below are a few examples of the different types of Baby Clothing sizes from different regions. Most of these I bought online, but there are a few I bought from stores as well.
This one is a handmade outfit from China. They appear to use Australian Sizing
This one is set to Australian Sizing
This is a really nice outfit and the sizing for it is really good too. It shows pretty much all different sizing types, but it was a little bit expensive although you could buy this in bulk too.
Seed is set to UK and US sizing
This one is in Euro Sizing
This one is another good one as it shows all the sizing information for each region
Why You should think of the future when buying baby clothing
It’s really amazing when purchasing Wholesale Baby Clothing or giving baby clothing as a gift how few people take sizing into consideration. When it comes to gifts, quite often, many gift givers simply select items that they feel would look cute and suit the little bubba right now rather than buying with the future in mind.
Let me explain … when purchasing baby clothing as a gift, many people don’t take into consideration that little bubbas tend to grow very quickly out of the smallest sizes. At times, a baby can skip a size in as little as two weeks (especially during early growth spurts).
How many outfits does a baby need?
Taking this into account, there is a fairly good chance that they will only need 5-8 outfits at the very beginning (and that’s really allowing for the nasty quick change if your beautiful bub decides to surprise you with a number 3, or if your darling daughter often throws up). Since we are looking at baby clothing with a saving mindset, purchasing more outfits at times can be a great waste of time and money.
When considering wholesale baby clothing, it’s also important to consider what the baby already has in their wardrobe. For example, many first time mums get super excited with the birth of their new bub that they tend to stock up on small size items. Instead of buying a lot of these items, it may be worthwhile to consider little outfits that will fit the baby at around the three month mark. With this in mind you can still take advantage of buying clothing in bulk and at competitive pricing and get more value from it.
A tip if you can’t decide what to give to parents that have a newborn child
After a couple of months (especially for households that only have one income) many of the parents tend to feel a financial pinch so giving a beautiful range of baby clothes with the future in mind will be a definite hit. You will be helping the parents save a little money and in the future you can see the beautiful baby getting around in an outfit that you chose. There are many times I see pictures of friends babies on facebook and think, I bought that!
Here are 3 important points to consider when purchasing baby clothing:
1. Will bub actually be able to wear it?
2. Do they already have enough outfits for their current size?
3. Is it appropriate for the current season?
By following these three important guidelines, you will surely make the right decision when making your next purchase.
Important points to consider when buying baby clothes as gifts
Now I have a child, one of the things I find really challenging is receiving gifts (in particular clothes) for my little girl, which turn out to be useless. This isn’t my usual Wholesale Baby Clothing post, but I want to share my biggest frustration, especially when others have taken the time to shop for baby clothing for Tilly. Even more importantly is the thought that they have spent their hard earned money on things that will never see the light of the day.
Over the past twelve weeks, I have received numerous little dresses, jackets, jumpsuits, bibs and other beautiful clothes that are now all sitting in a bag ready to go onto eBay never being worn by my little girl. Why may you ask?
When it comes to baby clothes, there are four simple criteria’s that I stick to:
1. Is it easy to put on? There’s nothing worse than trying to get a very complicated outfit onto a little squirming infant. Particularly after bathing, it is quite common for the little ones to get a bit restless especially if you take your time trying to dry out well all of the little folds around the neck, underarms and so on. Avoid buying outfits that contain many buttons on the back or long sleeve shirts and jumpsuits that need to be put over the head. Ideally, little jumpsuits that button up all the way down the front are an ideal solution for newborns.
2. What is it made of? This is a big one for me. Many of us don’t like to wear clothes made out of synthetic fibres as they simply don’t breathe inturn causing sweating and general discomfort. If an adult is either hot or uncomfortable, they can simply change. A baby however cannot. Instead, babies either cry, or if still unchanged, put up with the situation in discomfort. Secondly, many studies show that all babies should only ever sleep in clothing made from natural fibres such as cotton, as there is a lower risk of SIDS. Babies sleeping in items made from synthetic fibres such as polyester can over heat during the night without your knowledge, thus increasing the risks.
3. Is it appropriate for the weather? It’s lovely jumping online or going to the shops to find funky baby clothing that dazzles you with the gorgeous range of baby girl dresses, or little shorts and T-shirt sets for boys. You need to however take into consideration whether they these outfits are appropriate for the season. Avoid little sleeveless dresses and short sleeve outfits in wintertime; likewise thick jumpsuits may not be the best solution for summer either. If you are set on buying that little dress, and it is winter time, make sure that you buy it in a larger size.
4. What about the size – Most mothers (especially first time mums) tend to get over excited and buy a whole heap of baby clothes before the little one arrives into our world. Usually, they will be well stocked up for the first 6 – 8 weeks. When buying baby clothes, try to purchase items that the child can wear 3-6 months down the track. Also around that time, the families would have spent a great deal of money on the multitude of items that a baby needs so cash may become a little scarce – especially if the mother is intending on taking long maternity leave. Always remember though, if the baby is born in the middle of the winter, don’t buy winter clothes; rather look at items suitable for spring.
When buying baby clothes as a gift it’s quite easy to get it right. Simply consider the following: Is this outfit going to be useful, is it going to be comfortable, will it be easy to put on, and by the time the bub grows into it, will it be appropriate for the current season.
Here’s Why I started my Wholesale Baby Clothing Journey
I want to share with you why I am here talking with you about Wholesale Baby Clothing, but first I want to show you my little girl and recent addition to the family … Telina
This is a picture of Telina and I that I took just today (I’m the bigger, more tired one holding the baby).
Here is another picture of Telina in a dress which is an example of Wholesale Baby Clothing that can look pretty (yes I know I’m biased). We didn’t buy this one online, we bought it at a store as a bulk purchase.
I am a father myself and a very pro-active one at that. I dress, feed, bath (my wife is a little too scared to wash my little girl), change nappies, settle, put to bed and every other aspect (that you don’t hear about) that involves raising a child. I was raised by a different generation of men, where the mother raised the child and they would spend the early years of baby life on the on the sidelines.
So why Wholesale Baby Clothing? Simply put, I like to live my life on a budget and I want to be a part of that part of my daughters life.
My wife and I have enough responsibilities buying a home, paying off a car and other general everyday living expenses. With the introduction of a baby in our lives (the greatest addition of all time) my focus changed and I wanted to offer more to my child in her early life and still stay within a budget.
So this is where my journey begins, how can I find affordable, fashionable, funky outfits for my little girl that help her stand out from the crowd and don’t break the budget.
The first thought that comes to mind when I mention funky baby fashion are the guys from the Modern family. You know the compulsory gay men that adopted a baby girl. Well, have you noticed how well they dress their little girl? If you’ve never noticed (and I’m assuming any parent that watches that show has noticed) she looks really pretty and is dressed well.
Actually I’ll go beyond “Dressed Well’ and raise it with funky pretty baby.
I saw this as a “Your Mission should you choose to accept it” moment and thought, hey it would be interesting to see if you can buy wholesale baby clothing that is also fashionable and funky. I do know I’m repeating myself a bit but hey, this is my plan.
So, there are a few place I’ve found so far that you can buy cheap clothing. The first place is an old friend of mine called eBay. Yes Good ole eBay. In years passed I have purchased everything from sunglasses, air horns, watches, cycling gear and even clothing for myself. You see the thing about eBay is you can buy old clothes, new clothes and clothes in bulk and you’ll see if you’ve never checked them out before that their range is huge!!!! Literally.
But here’s the thing about eBay that I don’t like.
If you’re like me and you’ve bought a good variety of stuff from them, you’ll know you’ve got to wade through the crap to find the gold. There are times when I think “surely there must be a different way of buying these things.
So where does this journey lead now? Well over time I’d love to show you how you can find funky baby fashion at wholesale prices and even review a few pieces for you.
So that is where I’m at. I want to make sure I was a part of my babies life completely and wholeheartedly. To me that means helping with all the stuff and as I said It means I am able to share with you what I do and don’t really like about baby fashion.
My ultimate dream (which is slowly being realised with the internet) is to find the clothing that you would like to show off when you go out and not have to pay heaps of money for.
Wholesale Baby clothing proves Funky baby fashion need not cost the earth
Wholesale baby clothing is normally known as a cheap and nasty way
of buying clothes for your kids. But there is a very different reality, one where baby fashion can actually be affordable, not have to cost you the earth and be really quite funky if you can find the
right place.
I remember as a child when I was growing up, my parents couldn’t afford fashionable, funky clothes at school. To be honest, these were difficult years for me watching other
children wearing really nice clothes and me stuck my pair of stubbies
(Australian working man shorts) and my cheap shirt.
I would watch a really popular show at the time called “Parker
Lewis Can’t Loose” where parker was always immaculately dressed and I would
think one day I too could be dressed in those funky duds.
Days and times have changed. Nowadays we really have more
choice and styles to choose from and there all available at our fingertips …
The Internet. With the introduction of the internet you can now choose from an enormous
range of fashions from every corner of the globe.
You can also select from some of the simplest designs and have
those designs delivered to your home in bulk for your children to look their best.
So why would you want to buy in bulk or buy wholesale baby
clothing?
One of the most attractive reasons is in the price. You can
save bucket loads of money in buying baby wholesale fashion. Finding the
right spot to buy from can be the difference between buying crap and generic,
or funky and fashionable.
Another benefit in buying wholesale baby clothing is in the
selection and range. You’re not just confined to one single design and
one single colour. As I said earlier, if you buy from the right place you
can actually buy a selection of colours and designs and pay wholesale prices.
Not only can you save money, you can have these puppies delivered to your
door in no time.
Consider the amount of money you could actually save when buying
baby wholesale clothing.
Imagine what could you do with the extra money?
Were talking about extra money for holidays, food, education and
other ways you can offer your most precious baby a chance in life. Hey,
it all adds up!
Imagine the choice and range of clothing available – you can buy
everything from single one piece jumpsuits through to beautiful 2 – 3 piece
items to really let your babies expressions shine through. In order to
save money here you can order clothing cut from the same design and purchase in
bulk. This is where the savings really come into play.
Why should you buy Wholesale baby clothing? Are there any other
items you buy at bulk/ wholesale prices that help you save money in the long
run? Food like meats, oil and flour or underwear, washing powder and
batteries.
In today’s tough economic times our children should get the best parenting
possible and look good doing it. How would my be different today if my
parents had access to the internet and they were able to buy funky fashions at wholesale
prices? Sure I wouldn’t be here talking with you today, but I do know I would have had
fonder memories of being accepted with busting my parents bank.
